Japan Designated 13 more “Priority Assessment Chemical Substances”

On April 1st, Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Ministry of the Environment (MOE) issued Joint Notice No. 2 and 3, announcing the addition of 13 substances (e.g. N, N-Dimethyldodecylamine, No. 165) to Priority Assessment Chemical Substances (PACs), as well as the deletion of 4 substances (e.g. N, N-Dimethyldodecylamine N-oxide) from the list.

Meanwhile, METI issued another notice to clarify issues related to the notification of this batch of PACs and those published on Dec. 20th, 2013. Examples are provided as below:

The substances should be notified as PACs from the 2014 fiscal year (i.e. Relevant companies should notify the 3 Ministries between April 1st and June 30th, 2014, of the total manufacture/import amount for the 2013 fiscal year.)

2014-04-01

The substances should be notified as General Chemical Substances in the 2014 fiscal year and as PACs from the 2015 fiscal year.

Note: The 2013 fiscal year refers to April 1st, 2013 to March 31st, 2014.

  • Chemical substances no longer designated as PACs

Note: These entries have been deleted from the PAC list; however, the corresponding substances are incorporated under other entries in the list.
