New chemical registration exemption application (namely exemption of hazard examination) under TCCA should be made to the KCMA. The application process takes only 3 days. The KCMA has set the deadline for exemption application on 19 Dec 2014. If data supplementation is not completed by the end of 2014, the exemption application will be rejected.
TCCA hazard examination exemption confirmation received before the enforcement of K-REACH is still valid under K-REACH. For new chemical substances manufactured or imported in quantities of less than 0.1 ton per year the exemption of hazard examination under TCCA, is not applicable under K-REACH. Registrants that have obtained the exemption confirmation from KCMA still need to register their low-volume new chemical substance under K-REACH. Fortunately, according to the enforcement decree of K-REACH, for this special case, a one-year grace period will be granted for new chemical registration until the end of 2015.
