China to Adopt Revised Standard of SDS Compilation GB/T 17519 - 2013

Recently, the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) announced the approval of GB/T 17519-2013 Guidance on the compilation of safety data sheet for chemical products to replace the current 2003 edition, which is still in force until January 31st, 2014.

GB/T 17519-2013 could be regarded as a supporting document of GB/T 16483-2008 Safety data sheet for chemical products content and order of sections, providing more feasible and detailed guidance for compilation of SDS.

Major changes in the upcoming GB 17519 edition compared with its predecessor should be as follows:

  1. Revised provisions relating to preparation format of SDS;

  2. More detailed requirements on 16 sections and their sub-sections (as listed in GB/T 16483);

  3. Increased label elements according to China GHS.
