China Continued ADM on Catechol from USA and Japan

China will extend the anti-dumping measures (ADM) for another five year for the imported chemical will harm China’s Domestic caterchol industry.

On May 22th, China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) released Announcement No. 20 of 2012 on the final ruling of the Anti-Dumping investigation over imported catechol from US and Japan after the expiry review start from May 21th, 2011. China will extend the anti-dumping measures (ADM) for another five year for the imported chemical will harm China’s Domestic caterchol industry.

MOFCOM started five year’s ADM against imported caterchol from US and Japan in 2006 and adjusted the rate in 2009. And MOFCOM found that the caterchol industry in US and Japan are export-dependent as downturn consumption in their domestic market while China is a major importing country of the chemical. The ADM ending may lead flooded in of the chemical and hamper China’s domestic caterchol industry.

Caterchol is wide used in hardener of rubber, electroplating additives and germicide. It is an important intermediate in synthesis of agrochemicals such as diethofencarb, propoxur and carbofuran.
