China IECSC: 31 Substances Supplemented

In January ChemLinked reported that China Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) was considering reopening the supplementation of China’s Inventory of Existing Chemical Substances (IECSC). On March 10^th 2016, MEP published 31 substances that were supplemented to IECSC. These substances were registered previously under NCSN and five years have passed since they were first manufactured, imported or exported.

These chemicals will be regulated as existing chemical substances and there will be no tonnage limit. It should be noted that 9 of them are classified as hazardous chemicals of priority environmental concern so their use is explicitly specified, such as “used as an intermediate in herbicide manufacture” or “used as a component in fragrances”.

12 of the 31 substances are chemicals with confidential business information. The applicants of these chemicals can choose to disclose the sensitive information or not.
