China MEE Solicits Suggestions to Revise National Catalogue of Hazardous Wastes

On February 21, the Center for Solid Waste and Chemicals Management under the China MEE issued a notice to solicit suggestions to revise the National Catalogue of Hazardous Wastes as well as relevant information concerning the identification and management of hazardous wastes.

According to the notice, suggestions and information solicited majorly include the following four aspects:

  • Suggestions for revisions to the National Catalogue of Hazardous Wastes and the basis for such suggestions

  • Suggestions on which categories of hazardous wastes listed in the Catalogue should be subject to exemptions and the basis for such suggestions

  • Local regulations on procedures or requirements for identification of hazardous wastes or how to determine properties of hazardous wastes, which were released by end-2018

  • List of technical agencies which have been engaged in identification of hazardous wastes by end-2018, and digital copies of their completed identification reports of hazardous wastes (including reports of those identified as non-hazardous wastes)
