China Releases JT/T 617 Series Regulations

On Nov 21st, China MOT releases JT/T 617 series on official website. JT/T 617, Regulations concerning road transportation of dangerous goods (危险货物道路运输规则), is the first integrated regulations for Road TDG in China. It will soon come into effect from Dec 1st, 2018.

As can be referred to ChemLinked previous news, JT/T 617 has 7 parts and uses ADR (the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) as a reference to understand the international management on Road TDG. Considering the actual road transport condition in China, managements of several aspects differ from ADR:

  • Scope for small quantity exemption

  • Exemptions for LQ (limited quantity) and EQ (excepted quantity)

  • Adoption for some special rules

  • Transportation for radioactive substance (simplified)

  • Packages manufacture and testing requirements not adopted

  • Requirements concerning the construction and approval of vehicles not adopted

  • Document of carriage

  • Mixed loading requirements
