In Dec. 2012, MIIT published its Official List of Substitutes to Toxic and Hazardous Substances (ChemLinked news released on 15 Jan 2013), which encourages the phasing out of 81 hazardous chemicals (HCs). To further the impact of this list, Greenpeace has translated it into English making it available to a wider global audience.HCs substitutions are taking place globally with a trend towards safer more environmentally friendly variants. Chinese enterprises involved in global trade are encouraged to stay abreast of these changes to maintain a competitive edge.
ChemSec and Greenpeace provide a platform to communicate changes in the industry involving substitutions of hazardous chemicals to more environmentally friendly variants. The initiative offers a chance for mutual progress within the wider global industry and also facilitates dissemination of information in a continually changing industry. Individuals and enterprises wanting to further their knowledge regarding these recent changes are invited to participate in the “China-EU Industry Forum on Safer Chemical Substitution” to be held on 25 Mar 2013 in Hangzhou.
