Key Developments in Australia’s New Industrial Chemical Scheme

Following two delays, Australia’s new industrial chemical scheme is to be implemented starting from July 1, 2020.
Under the new scheme, there will be 6 categories of introduction of industrial chemicals into Australia.
Some regulatory changes have been in effect under the current scheme.
Several key documents are remaining under development.
Earlier on January 11, 2019, the Australian government announced that it decided to further delay the implementation of the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS), which is now scheduled to be implemented starting from July 1, 2020 (see CL news [1]).
