Korea’s 510 PEC Substances Require Confirmation within 6 Months

The final list of 510 priority existing chemical substances (PECs) was officially announced by MoE (Announcement No. 2015-92) on 1 July of 2015 (ChemLinked news). The potential registrants will have a three-year grace period to register the listed PEC substances.

As a transitional measure, manufacturers or importers of PEC substances are required to submit the "Written Confirmation of Details for Chemical Product" to the MoE in accordance with Article 9 of CCA within 6 months from the date the PEC list is officially published, namely July 1, 2015.

However, considering the fact that the OR concept has not been adopted by the CCA, for importation activities, this obligation shall be imposed on Korean importers and not on non-Korea manufacturers. It should be noted that the submission of "Written Confirmation" should be done by each importer for every product or every substance.
