NICNAS Seek Public Feedback on IMAP and Draft Rules

Australia NICNAS is seeking public comments on its IMAP framework stage 2 tranche 23 (from 2 March to 11 May) and NICNAS draft rules. The tranche 23 assessments includes polymers, azo-based substances, and excluded use chemicals.

IMAP, Inventory Multi-tiered Assessment and Prioritisation, is a scientific and risk-based model for assessing chemicals with three tiers of assessment -Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3. If you have any comment on tranche 23, please fill out and submit the form here. Also, IMAP has updated their responses to tranche 22 (Click here to find a summary of amendments to tranche 22 or earlier tranches).

NICNAS is also consulting on Industrial Chemicals rules (part of NICNAS reforms), including general rules, categorisation guidelines, and transitional rules. To make a submission, you might find the following information helpful: notes on the draft general rules; notes on the draft transitional rules; summary of main changes to categorisation of industrial chemicals since our last consultation.
