SAWS Issued 21 Type A Qualification Certification to Safety Evaluating Agencies

China State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS) issued the Type A qualification certification to 21 safety evaluating agencies on Oct 15th.

SAWS has carefully checked and reviewed the competency of the 21 agencies and agreed that the agencies could be responsible for conducting safety evaluations for safety supervisions and administrative affairs.

Safety evaluation report issued by the competent evaluating agencies is a critical document for permit application procedure. In 2009, SAWS updated the “Administration Provision on Safety Evaluation Agencies”, in which it stipulated that the evaluating agencies shall be granted qualification certificate to produce valid safety evaluation report. The qualification certification could be divided into type A and type B, with type A qualification reviewed by provincial work safety department and the certificate issued by the SAWS. Generally, type A is more competent than type B  in scale, operating range, experience and technique. For example, A type qualifier may conduct inter-provincial safety evaluation and highly toxic chemical projects.

Names and business scope of the 21 agencies were attached on the notice and the agencies are allowed to conduct safety evaluation until end of Oct 2015.
