Shanghai Strengthens Regulations on Disinfectant Products

According to the national plan of random checks on health care and disinfectant products, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning has drawn up a random inspection project on disinfectant products in 2018. The supervision is divided into two stages (H1 2018 and H2 2018).

The supervision focuses include category 1 and category 2 disinfectant products, newly registered products, and products that have previously failed spot checks. Also, more samples will be drawn from 84 disinfectant and hygienic products for infants and young children.

Earlier in the Spring Festival of 2018 (around February), Shanghai conducted an investigation on disinfectants in supermarkets, stores, and pharmacies. During the investigation a total of 256   business units and 494 disinfection products (including disinfectants, bacteria-resistant preparation, sanitary towels, diapers, wipes, tissues etc.) were assessed.

The national plan of random checks on health care and disinfectant products regulates the scope of the national inspection. Under the plan 50% of plants manufacturing first category disinfectants should be randomly inspected using at least 20 sample products. 30% of plants manufacturing category 2 disinfectants should be checked randomly sampling at least 10 products (focus on 84 disinfectant). For plants producing the 3rd category of disinfectants, no less than 10 products will be checked (focus on hygienic products).
