Shenzhen CIQ Encourages Prequalification on Hazard Chemical Goods

Large sum of the chemical goods have been rejected or withdrawn from the entry port, which cost the importers much money and time during their custom clearing.

With serial of non-compliant hazardous chemical goods been investigated by local Customs Inspection and Quarantine Since China’s new customs clearance order targeting entry-exit hazardous chemicals took effect in February 2012, large sum of the chemical goods have been rejected or withdrawn from the entry port, which cost the importers much money and time during their custom clearing.

Due to the particularity of the chemicals, CIQ will inspect the conformity, accuracy and entirety on SDS and precautionary label of the goods instead of the safety, health and environmental nature of other conventional goods. Routinely, CIQ examines the conformity of SDS and labels according to the compulsory national standard GB/T16483 and GB15258 respectively. However, the importing companies don't always understand the physical, chemical and hazardous properties of their goods sourced abroad. And it is difficult for them to filling the SDS sheet and labeling their goods correctly as long as they are less specialized.

The CIQ suggest that the importers to request the SDS and precautionary labels from their foreign suppliers and submit them to their local inspection service for a prequalification prior to the import, which would ensure a timely delivery. And the foreign exporters to China are once again cautioned to proceed to the SDS and labeling in according with China compulsory standards.
