South Korea Accelerates LR Election for PECs Subject to Registration under K-REACH

The final list of 510 priority existing chemical substances (PECs) was announced on 1 July of 2015 (CL news). Potential registrants are recommended to join the Joint Registration Information System within 5 months from the date the PEC list was officially published, namely before 30 Nov 2015. According to the Korean authority the Lead Registrant (LR) is supposed to be elected during a period spanning the 1st of Dec 2015 to 14 Dec 2015. For companies joining the consortium after initial formation they are likely to miss the the opportunity to run for LR, as well as the opportunity for early communication on operation of consortium, acquisition of existing data, generation of new data and cost sharing as such will be bound by the rules designated by the other members of the consortium.
