The Ministry of Environment (MoE), the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), the Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI), together with 17 major manufacturers and importers of household chemical products have signed a voluntary safety management agreement in Seoul, Korea on 28 Feb 2017.
The 17 companies are LG Care, Aekyung Industrial,Yuhan-Clorox, Yuhan-Kimberly, Yuhan Corporation, Pigeon, Korea P&G, Oxy Reckitt Benckiser, CJLION, Henkel Homecare, SC Johnson, Boryung Medience, Lottemart, Homeplus, Emart, Daiso, It’s Skin.
The agreement follows the government’s household chemical management safety management plan issued on 29 Nov 2016. It will apply for 2 years (from 28 Feb 2017 to 27 Feb 2019) to strengthen companies’ social responsibility and help safeguard consumer safety. The main contents include:
Disclose chemical ingredients of household chemical products
Internal check on product ingredient
Consumer safety is of top priority for business
Establish voluntary safety management guidelines
Establish effective monitoring system for consumer protection
To achieve that, the companies involved should set up detailed action plans and submit them to the authority. The action results will be shared quarterly.
