Taiwan Pre-registration of Existing Chemical Substances to End on 31st of Mar 2016

Taiwan launched Phase 1 registration for existing chemical substance manufactured or imported in amounts over 100kg/year on 1 Sep 2015. Pre-registration will end on 31 Mar 2016. Proof of payment proof should be submitted before 7 April.

For those manufactured or imported over 100kg/year for the first time after March 31, late preregistration will be applied.

The two major differences between preregistration and late preregistration are:

  1. The volume information required for pre-registration should include the data of the previous year (2013, 2014 and 2015). For 2016, an estimated volume can be submitted voluntarily. However for late preregistration, only the estimated volume of the year when application is made is required.

  2. For preregistration, no proof document is required for the previous volume. However, for late preregistration, registrants will be required to provide proof that the manufacture or import of the substance has exceeded 100kg/year.

For Phase 1 registration, registrants could appoint a Taiwan-based third party agency to undertake registration and ensure non-disclosure of CBI. The information gathered from Phase 1 registration will facilitate the designation of priority existing substances subject to Phase 2 registration, which should further comply with standard registration.
