Three-Month Special Check over Hazardous Chemicals Companies Starts in Tianjin

In Tianjin, a three-month special inspection over 127 companies of hazardous chemicals has recently been planned by the city’s administration of work safety, according to news from ccin.com.cn. The special check will focus on the involved major hazard installations and newly built factories equipped with hazardous chemicals process technologies.

Inspected companies will receive safety examination and assessment on the following seven items:

  • Whether your company has set up a sound system of enterprise safety production management and how do your safety rules work?

  • How do you perform your major hazard installations management, hazard risk control and prevention, work at heights and hot work practice, operation in a confined space and other key safety control items?

  • How do you monitor key equipment running status and security guarantee conditions, in particular the malfunction, leakage, corrosion as well as bundling and hanging conditions of hazardous chemicals devices?

  • Whether you keep in good repair your company’s electric equipment, wiring plan, earth and zero connection, as well as power leakage protection equipment?

  • Has your company prepared a good emergency rescue plan including the allocation of emergency devices and how do you perform the emergency exercise?

  • Have you established proper ledger books and made any rectification for the hazard risks in your company?

  • What are your safety measures against the flood season or under extreme weather, and how is your employee safety training in summer?

In another related report from Worker’s Daily, 110 A-level companies with higher hazard risks were already inspected during the July work safety inspection organized under the municipal government. 37 among the inspected ones were ordered to suspend production and make self-corrections, for severe safety problems were detected, e.g. using phased out process technologies or insufficient safety distance, storage/piping unconformities, etc.

With a series of legislation being enacted and enforced concerning hazardous chemicals, led by Decree 591, we advise the concerned industry take beforehand actions for up-to-date regulatory trends and get ready for any prospective inspection. To take an instance, three administrative measures with regard to hazardous chemicals production, use and sales (storage) is soon to be implemented in the later half 2012.
