On December 12, 2023, the Japanese MHLW, METI, and MoE issued a joint consultation regarding the designation of methoxychlor, dechlorane plus and UV-328 as Class I Specified Chemical Substances under the Chemical Substance Control Law (CSCL). Comments are welcome before January 10, 2024.

South Korea Implements OSHA Revisions for MSDS Preparation Using CBI-Protected Substance Information

On September 27, 2023, the Ministry of Employment and Labor of South Korea (MoEL) promulgated the partial revision to the Enforcement Rules of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). The revised Article 162 stipulates that manufacturers and importers are allowed to directly use alternative chemical names and content ranges for CBI-protected substances to prepare the MSDS for a mixture containing them.

Turkey REACH: Registration Deadline Extension Expected for KKDIK

As the KKDIK registration deadline (regardless of tonnage) of December 31, 2023 approaches, the Ministry of Environment, Climate, and Urbanization (MoECC) is in discussions regarding a possible extension based on tonnage bands. Although no official statement has been issued, Ms. Ahu Cekim, an official from the MoEUCC, mentioned during the ChemCon Europe conference on October 26 that the registration deadline will be extended and new timeline for registration will soon be announced.
