Goh Choo Ta
Senior Lecturer / Research Fellow
Dr. Goh Choo Ta received his PhD (Environment and Development) on the study related to Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) from UKM. He is actively involved in various research projects pertaining to chemicals governance, particularly GHS implementation. In November 2010, Dr. Goh was appointed by Malaysia Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) as National GHS Project Coordinator for the GHS project entitled 'Training and Capacity Building for the Implementation of the GHS in Malaysia' facilitated by United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). Meanwhile, Dr. Goh was appointed by Malaysia Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism (MDTCC) as a consultant to lead the project entitled 'GHS Comprehensibility Testing and Situation and Gap Analysis Study for Consumer'. He was also selected by the Environmentally Hazardous Substances (EHS) Team as national consultant to carry out a GHS study, as well as to assist the Department of Environment (DOE) in the establishment of the EHS Notification and Registration Scheme in Malaysia. He is also the manager for the MyNICHE (Malaysian Network for Integrated Management of Chemicals and Hazardous Substances for Environment and Development) that jointly established by LESTARI and Environmental Management and Climate Change Division, Ministry of Natural Resources (NRE).
