New Zealand Consults on the Reassessment of Two Kinds of Hazardous Substances

There are two public consultations open for submission on the New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) website now, both of which concern the reassessment of hazardous substances. One consultation is for the reassessment of benzalkonium chlorides (BACs), this reassessment has already finished, and the proposed changes are currently subject to public consultation. The second public consultation has been issued to gather data and information on hydrogen cyanamide containing products.

Korea MoE Opens Data Support Platform for K-REACH Registration

On January 31, 2020, South Korea’s Ministry of Environment (MoE) opened the online data support platform to facilitate K-REACH registrations. It contains a large amount of existing data collected by the MoE from other countries and international organizations, including the USA, Australia, Japan, the EU, and the OECD, etc.

Korea MoEL Requires SDS Online Submission from 2021

The revised Occupational Safety and Health Act[1] (OSHA) was promulgated as Law No. 16272 on January 15, 2019 (CL news[2]). One of the major amendments requires the submission of SDS to the Ministry of Employment and Labour (MoEL) within five years after the amendment is implemented (from January 16, 2021).

Thailand Consults on Future Action Plan for Management of POPs

To ensure comprehensive compliance with the Stockholm Convention on POPs, Thailand released a management plan with an action plan. The management plan reviewed the current implementation of the Stockholm Convention and proposed future actions on POPs. The action plan listed each activity’s purpose, indicators, competent authorities, schedule, and budget.

In response to the tight supply of disinfectants caused by 2019 Novel Coronavirus(2019-nCoV), on February 3, 2020, the National Health Committee released "The Emergency Product Launching Notification of Disinfectants during Prevention And Control Period of Pneumonia Outbreak Caused by 2019-nCoV". Under this emergency measure, China has opened a "Green Channel," entailing expedited and exceptional market access for four types of disinfectants, including alcohol disinfectant, chlorine-containing disinfectant, chlorine dioxide disinfectant, and peracetic acid disinfectant placing on China market (see below).
