China Consults on Emission Standards for Odor Pollutants

On Dec 3, China MEE opened a period of public consultation on the draft Emission standard for odor pollutants. Public consultation will end on Jan 15, 2019. Feedback will be collected by the contact below:

The regulated odors are the same 8 as in the current standard GB14554-93, they are:
Ammonia, tri-methylamine, hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide, methyl disulfide, carbon disulfide, vinyl benzene and odor concentration.

Compared to the current regulation, the concentration threshold for odors in the draft have been tightened, and will not alter at different stack heights.

Any enterprise constructing new facilities after the standard is implemented shall be subject to the new emission requirements. Current enterprises will be subject to emission requirements after a 2 year grace period starting from the day of implementation.
