GB/T 17519 - 2013 Guidance on Compilation of SDS for Chemical Products is Officially Published

GB/T 17519 - 2013 Guidance on Compilation of Safety Data Sheet for Chemical Products is published and will come into force as of January 31st, 2014, to replace GB/T 17519.2 - 2003.

GB/T 17519 - 2013 serves as a supplementary standard for implementation of GB/ T 16483 - 2008 Safety Data Sheet for Chemical Products Content and Order of Sections. It provides detailed interpretations and sample texts of each section listed in GB/T 16483 - 2008. Annex A is a completed model SDS for reference. For data required in SDS compilation, officially accepted data sources are listed in, but not limited to, Table B.1, Annex B.

Even though GB/T 17519 and GB/T 16483 are recommended standards, the authorities judge whether an SDS is satisfactory by referring to them, since they are the only normative documents concerning SDS compilation in China.

The formulation of GB/T 17519-2013 has consulted many other international well-recognized  regulations, standards and guidelines related to SDS compilation, inter alia, UN GHS fourth revised edition (2011), ECHA Guidance on the Compilation of Safety Data Sheet (Ver. 1.1, 2011-12), American National Standard ANSI Z400.1/Z 129.1-2010, Japanese Industrial Standard JIS Z 7250:2010.

The official GB/T 17519 - 2013 and its English translation are already available. Enter Chemlinked Regulatory Database to download.
