SAWS Announces Accredited Labs for Physical Hazard Identification and Classification

Qualified labs for physical hazard identification of chemicals are announced

According to China State Administration of Work Safety’s (SAWS’s) Order No.60 “Measures on the Management of Physical Hazard Identification and Classification for Chemicals”, SAWS is responsible for development of guidance and protocols related to the physical hazard identification of chemicals all over the country and for issuing the list of laboratories accredited to conduct physical hazard identification of chemicals on behalf of industry.  

On Nov 24th 2016, SAWS published the first batch of 11 qualified laboratories. The qualification of labs will expire 3 years after the announcement. The 11 laboratories are:

*Please note that the English names of the labs are for references only.

SAWS Order No. 60 requires physical hazard identification and classification on following 3 types of chemicals:

  1. Chemicals with uncertain physical hazards on the whole and which contain one or more composition substances listed in the Catalogue of Hazardous Chemicals of China.

  2. Chemicals which are not listed in the Catalogue but with uncertain physical hazards.

  3. Chemicals with uncertain physical hazards and which are produced or used in quantities above 1 ton per year, for the sole purpose of scientific research and product development.
