According to the environmental credit assessment results of 2017, there are 1871 red-labeled enterprises and 30188 yellow-labeled enterprises in Shandong Province. The results are based on the reference assessment criteria outlined in the Measures for Enterprise Environmental Credit Assessment in Shandong released on 27 Oct 2016.
The assessment adopts an annual marking system for any illegal behavior which negatively impacts the environment. Enterprises that did not receive negative marks are green-labeled, suggesting no violation of related environmental laws or regulations. If enterprises received 1-11 marks, they’ll be labeled as yellow. Whoever received more than 11 marks will be stamped as red. For the detailed marking standard please see the appendix at the end of this article.
For the red labeled enterprise, they will be listed as a “focus of supervision” by the provincial environmental protection bureau. They may be subject to production limitations, production suspenion and remediation or even closure. For green-labeled enterprises, the provincial environmental protection bureau will reduce spot check frequency accordingly.
Enterprises issued with an environmental rectification order by authorities shall rectify their environmental violations, and are requested to submit a rectification report and relevant supporting documents to the environmental protection bureau. After verification, the authority will remove a mark. However, if violators or single violations accumulate 12 marks and above, the marks will remain on record and be cleared the next year.
