Shanghai CIQ: Hazardous Chemicals Entry-Exit Customs Declaration Soars in the first half 2012

Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (Shanghai CIQ) reports today that during the first half 2012 the agency has processed 1127 cases of exit customs declaration, 9 times from the same period last year; and 132 cases of entry declaration, 4 times from the same period last year. 81% of the total customs declarations (adding up to 1016 cases) are involved with products listed in the Catalogue of Hazardous Chemicals of China.

From February this year, Shanghai CIQ began the special inspection and quarantine check for certain hazardous chemical products incorporated into the 2012 Catalogue of Entry-Exit Commodities. Importers of the listed hazardous chemicals need to submit local CIQ agencies a Declaration of Conformity, information on the name, quantity (and other conditions) of the inhibitors or stabilizers contained in the imported products if available, and samples of China GHS compliant precautionary labels and SDSs. Exit Customs declaration shall supply two additional documents in addition to the specifications for entry declaration – the “Final Packing Performance Inspection List for Exit Goods Transportation” and a report on the hazard identification and classification of their products.
