Shanghai Established Emission Standard of Air Pollutants

After months’ of discussion and debate, Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau issued a local standard named Integrate Emission Standards of Air Pollutants (DB31/933-2015). The standard took effect from Dec 1st 2015.

The standard specified the requirements on the control, test and monitor of the air pollutants discharged in Shanghai. It also mentioned the requirement of the production process control. A total of 71 air pollutants appeared in the control list, including solid particulates, VOCs, heavy metal compounds and other pollutants. The standard also listed dozens of test methods for particular pollutants, most of which are national environmental standards.

Enterprises are required to notify their pollutants emission equipment, treatment equipment and the characteristics, total amount and concentration of their air pollutants to local competent authorities. Other technical documents should also be presented.
