Two Chinese National Standards Align with OECD Specifications

On Dec 31st, 2014, Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) and Standardization Administration of China (SAC) released Announcement No.33-2014 and published a series of national standards. ChemLinked have picked out several standards that our members may be interested in.

  • Chemicals – Metamorphosis Test on Amphibians (GB/T 30664-2014) will become effective on Apr 30th, 2015. The technical content of this standard is identical with OECD Test No.231: Amphibian Metamorphosis Assay.

  • Chemicals – Biodegradability in Seawater – Closed Bottle Method (GB/T 30665-2014) will become effective on Apr 30th, 2015. The technical content of this standard is identical with Test No. 306: Biodegradability in Seawater – Closed Bottle Method.

  • General Rules of Labels of Food Contact Materials and Products (GB/T 30643-2014) will become effective on Sep 1st, 2015.

  • The Measurement of Hazardous Elements in Coatings (GB/T 30647-2014) will become effective on Jul 1st, 2015.

For the first two standards, there are no particular situations yet in which they are required to be adopted compulsively, as ChemLinked gathered. However, this indicates the process of MEP and SAWS to convert the OECD test methods into national standards. Also the label and test requirements for food and coating industry will be further detailed.
